Computer Control Interface: Built on professional LabVIEW software, offering a rigorous design and high-level automation.
All core components of the machine use imported elements, such as flow meters, heat flux meters, and photomultiplier tubes.
Equipped with one set of ISO 5659-2/GB/T8323 cone calorimeter device (providing 50KW/M2 heat radiation output) and one set of ASTM E662 radiant furnace device (providing 25KW/M2 heat radiation output). The switching between the radiant furnace and the cone calorimeter uses aviation plug connections, making device replacement extremely convenient and practical.
The light source reception uses a photomultiplier tube along with high-precision acquisition and amplifier boards. It features an S4 frequency response, with the photomultiplier tube accepting signals with a dark current lower than 10^-9A, achieving a light transmittance accuracy of 0.0001%.
Equipped with a Dutch Schmidt-Boelter water-cooled heat flux meter, which comes with the original factory calibration certificate. Also equipped with a portable water cooling system that requires no external cooling water source, making it convenient for users
A bursting aluminum foil sheet is installed at the bottom of the square chamber to ensure safe bursting in case of overpressure. A pressure relief device is installed inside the chamber to implement safe and automatic pressure relief.
The chamber features a full-door opening design. This makes it extremely convenient to install samples, clean the upper and lower optical windows of the test chamber after testing, and switch between different test devices, greatly improving work efficiency.
An auxiliary heating device is installed in the test chamber, which can rapidly achieve the chamber temperature equilibrium time according to standard requirements.
A stirring fan is installed in the test chamber to ensure the combustion smoke is evenly mixed, improving the precision and accuracy of the test.
Equipped with a gas sampling device and interface. Through the use of gas detector tubes, it allows for future expansion and backup testing of toxic gases in the smoke.

Test Methods / Procedures

The material sample is placed vertically inside a sealed test chamber and ignited using a combination of a 25 kW/m² radiant heat flux and an open flame. During combustion, a photoelectric system continuously monitors the light attenuation (beam obscuration) caused by the smoke, thereby quantifying and recording the Specific Optical Density (Ds).

Specifications

Test Chamber: A sealed test chamber made of thin steel plates, with an internal cavity size of (914±3)mm in width, (610±3)mm in depth, and (914±3)mm in height, coated with black matte high-temperature resistant paint.
Photoelectric Measurement System: Composed of a vertical optical path system and a detection system, capable of detecting a minimum of 1% light transmission.
Radiant Furnace: An electric furnace with a power of approximately 600 W, which is adjustable.
Heat Flux Meter:Used to calibrate the heat flux density provided by the radiant furnace to the specimen surface.
Chamber Temperature Measurement System: Composed of a thermocouple suitable for measuring 35°C installed at the geometric center of the rear wall of the chamber, along with a matching temperature indicator and controller.
Burner:

- Standard Burner: A small-flame burner with six burner tubes.
- Straight-tube Burner: A burner dedicated to the smoke density test of insulated wires.

Specimen Holder and Bracket：

- Specimen Holder: Composed of a stainless steel frame, a backing made of insulating board, spring clips to secure the specimen’s position, locating pins, and aluminum foil to wrap the specimen.
- Bracket: Used to secure the radiant furnace.

Gas Flow Meters:Divided into an air flow meter and a propane flow meter.
Manometer: A U-tube water manometer approximately 152 mm in height.
Exhaust Hood: Meets the requirement of assisting in the rapid exhaust of smoke from the test chamber after each test.
Fuel Gas: The fuel gas used for the test consists of propane gas and compressed air.

Control System / Software

The computer control interface is powered by professional LabVIEW software. It features a user-friendly, “fool-proof” interface with bilingual (Chinese/English) support. The system includes a built-in printer for generating bilingual reports, and allows raw data and results to be exported directly to Word and Excel.
The software includes functions for system calibration, leak detection, safety warnings, and data retention in case of power failure.
